Onboard Computer

Yandex Auto is a smart in-car system that integrates directly with a vehicle’s electronics, providing intuitive widgets for quick access to key functions, ultimately enhancing driver safety and convenience.

The project aimed to deliver an adaptable, user-centric interface that improves the driving experience, aligning with Yandex.Auto’s broader mission of safety and convenience enhancement.

Requarement

The primary stakeholder goal was to empower users with a highly flexible and user-friendly customization feature.

This required a complete redesign of the onboard grid system, allowing users to arrange, resize, and personalize widgets according to their individual preferences.

Key challenges included designing a visually appealing and functional grid layout balancing multiple constraints such as optimal rows and columns, spacing, and widget snapping behavior.

Additionally, enabling seamless drag-and-drop rearrangement and dynamic resizing of widgets introduced complex interaction and usability considerations.

Task

Challenges faced

During development, our team encountered tough problem such as creating an effective screen to indicate simultaneous charging of two phones - this demanded thoughtful planning to ensure clarity and ease of use.

Discover

User research also revealed diverse preferences for clock displays, prompting me to design two distinct clock faces to accommodate user choice.

Committed to maximizing every inch of screen real estate, we proposed an innovative status bar concept that received positive stakeholder feedback and is under consideration for further testing.
